Well I literally have 6 more hours in Lesbos before I get on a ferry to Athens.
The feels are more than real and if I am being honest it has crossed my mind more than once to stop the race and stay here. This month has been a roller coaster of emotions and different lessons but if one thing remains true it is that I thrive when I am helping others.
This month we worked 8-10 hour days 6 days a week and I just wanted more time. I wanted to go there more. Be in the camp and stay with the refugees.

As I have tried to write many blogs this month I have not had the words to describe how I have felt or the things I have seen. I often would find my self writing a few paragraphs, read it and delete the whole thing because it was not what I wanted and it could not fully capture my experience. With this being said I finally realized that you will not be able to understand this month. You will not be able to understand the mother with five children who lost her husband to a heart attack. You will not understand the deep belly laughs I experienced with a family as they straightened my teammates hair. You will not understand the goodbye chai I had with a Syrian family before I left camp for the last time. And thats okay. Its okay not to understand. Its okay that I cannot explain all of my emotions, visions, and conversations I endured this month.

I do though want to give you guys the opportunity to ask questions. I want to be able to answer questions you may have from this month, the process the refugees go through to get here or any thing else. With that being said please comment below any questions that have came up and my team and I are going to do a Q&A video that will be posted in the next week.
We want to answer your questions the best we can and respect all the amazing people that are following us on our journey and have helped us get here.

  1. You are 100% correct in saying that it’s okay that we will not REALLY understand!! It is your experience!! We can listen and have compassion, as much as we understand! What’s important is to spread the message that they need help staffing! That no amount of time is too little. That these are families like yours and mine that are no longer safe in their own country!! Thank you for opening your heart and letting the love of Jesus shine through you….there is someone in that camp that will know Jesus because of you!

  2. Hey girl. It must be overwhelming there in Greece with all the refugee crisis, etc. Do you have some pictures of the refugee camps? Would love to see some of them and what your team has been doing 🙂
    Always remember you are awesome!!
