All Squad Month really out did itself. Ask me a month ago how I was feeling about living with 44 other humans and I was not that excited. I was nervous and unsure how the dynamic would be but it has been amazing. Like to the point where I want another All Squad Month on the race. (Bill Swan if you are reading this…could you make that happen for X-Squad.)
As a squad we were able to serve 6 different ministries and evangelize all over Alba Iulia. We saw people come to know Christ, make a public commitment through baptism, remodeled buildings, work at a Kindergarten, teach english, minister to youth and administrate for Raul Costea who runs both PIEI and Hope Church.
Besides local ministry there was also squad ministry. Worship every morning. Dinner together in the evening. Sessions on Identity, Feedback, World Religion, Words (because they matter), Inner Healings, and Team Workouts (yoga and soccer more specifically.)
This month has literally filled my heart. I have come to know my brothers and sisters in Christ on X-Squad. I have picked lice out of my teammates hair, sat on an abandoned rooftop talking about Jesus, crushed my brothers in Euchre (sorry Izaiah and Conner), had morning workouts with girls that encouraged me, and walked around a fortress for two hours looking for a dance club which ended in us just dancing on the streets of Alba Iulia.
I have met a family that continuously gives their time, food and love away. They will give you tours of the city, teach you about and provide Romanian food, open up there home to five American girls for a good fall evening, encourage us as we work to sort the clothes in their shop and lay floor. They allow their children to hangout with us, teach us a little bit about the Romanian language, and sacrifice family time to serve as our Squad doctor and drive 30 minutes out of the way daily to provide transportation to ministry. My only wish is that I had more time with them.
Our squad just split up this morning as we finished Leadership Development in Sofia, Bulgaria. I am now on a ferry to an island in Greece to work with refugees. I am beyond excited to be able to pour love into the refugees lives and volunteer. I ask for prayers for all 18 of us. Prayers that we would be fully ready for what we are about to see and that our hearts would be ready to serve. Words would come easy and confident that we are equipped due to Jesus.
I am 4,730 dollars away from being fully funded. Please consider donating to my race as I am 60 days away from my final deadline!!
Looooove seeing the legacy of the x-squad love be shared throughout the world! Scripture says that people will know we are disciples of Jesus by the way we love our brothers and sisters (John 13:35), I love how this only continues to grow!!!
Thank you, Brittany, for sharing your experiences with us. So excited for those yet to come. Prayers continue for all!!
